Now it's time for higher ed to think hard about new ways of conducting teaching. First the MIT open courses initiative and now the Rice University's on-line publishing. The knowledge is now much cheaper and accessible. Students is no longer limited to instructor's view or limited reference book. Motivated students can study by themselves. Attending pollicy will only serve to limit students freedom.
This is just a tip of the iceberg. The new trend is on the way! Do you still force students to come to school? What's the use of the extra buildings if students did not need to come to school? Should students pay to maintain those buildings? Shouldn't these transform to the saving of college cost? ...
