As a parent I really have problem with the 3 minutes inter-class break imposed by LPS on it's public middle school.

Personally, I really don't think that's appropriate. Just ask around, who as an employee, got a break of mearly 3 minutes.

As far as I am aware of, the reason given by administrators are: 1) We would not have done it if we do not believe student can do it. 2) This will reduce the chances of bully in school.

The problem of these reasons are they are not good reasons. I suppose the number 1 means they will cut the time to the minimum if they can. They are not going to think of other factors. The problem of number 2 is that administrators are simply think about themselves - don't happen in school and did not really care about solving or even educate students. A conflict can well be a chance of education! A conflict does not go away by avoiding it. Without resolving it, it can still broke out even within that 3 minutes.

For students there really isn't really a social life in school any more. Is this what we call the team work? Do you get to know your collge at work by beging and ending a conversation in 3 minutes?

When I grew up, we got about 10 minutes for break, need not to say that we have all our stuff with us and don't need to run to the locker. I remember I will use those time to refresh my mind or, if needed, grab teacher or classmate for clarifying things I missed. A time is not wasted if you can make good use of it.
